The affects from Hurricane Ike have been felt by residents all along the Gulf Coast, those residing in both Texas and Louisiana. Lauren and I have lived in this same Coastal Region for the past fifteen years, however to date we as well as our home have not directly been affected by this or previous storms. The blessings from our Lord Jesus have kept us save. Many however have not been as fortunate. The recent storm (Ike) referred to as the Big One has indeed left its mark all along its chosen path, and in a Big Way!
Many have suffered the greatest loss, loss of family members while countless others have been injured. Thousands of homes and businesses have been either destroyed or damaged severely. Living, working, school and play, have all met with their share of adversity, for many a good people. Most are working to regain the basics to they and their families existence; water, electricity, a place to sleep, a place to once again call home.
Our hearts and our prayers go out to everyone who has and continues to be affected by the fury of this storm. From a positive note, there has been an out pouring of love and assistance by the Federal Govt, local authorities, various relief agency's, neighbors, and good people like you, all across the country.
As a society, we indeed live in what might be viewed as difficult times, yet there is still a tremendous amount of good in people all across this great land. It's pleasing to the heart to see so many Reaching Out to others during their time of need Many of these same folks have experienced both personal and/or professional adversity in their own lives, yet they openly give. They give of their time and of their resources. They give selflessly. The spirit of America is very much alive. I want to thank every man, woman and child who is making a difference in the life of another. We live in the greatest country in the world, a country of compassionate, giving citizens, we refer to as Americans.
You and I don't necessarily require a storm as justification for our Reaching Out to another. We are all God's children, all connected as Spiritual Beings within this incredible universe. Your most pleasant experience may come as the result of your Reaching Out and/or Giving to another... The gift you give could be something as simple as a silent prayer, where another might experience joy, laughter and happiness for their life.
